Who cares if pubs are closing, I can't reheat my leftovers...

Yes, the beer blog world is on fire today with everyone up in arms about some Pubco statistics showing that 50 odd pubs are closing a week. What do these statistics tell us besides the fact that there are too many pubs? If a business can't make money it will close. Full Stop.....
Nobody complains when an off licence or dodgy Chinese take away closes up, so why the fuss about the pubs that obviously nobody patronises?
Speaking of Chinese takeaway, I made the school boy error of keeping leftovers after throwing away my microwave oven. I had to eat cold special friend rice and cold beef and black bean. I'm doing it tough. Today I disposed of my toaster and kettle. It really is a hard knock life. Later I get to go fly tipping with my TV and unused ironing board.

On a brighter note I did have an excellent pint of Gales HSB this afternoon at the Queens Head on Brook Green. I then drank the last beer in my fridge (Le Chouffe Blonde - too much coriander BTW). I'm feeling a little tipsy now but that will just make the curry taste better for dinner.

It's a good thing I am leaving the UK on Friday. At the current rate of 2500 pub closures a year, there will be nowhere left to get smashed or ogle barmaids tits left in five years time. But I really don't give a shit, I really don't.

1. Cold chinese is SO much better than warm chinese so no microwave is a blessing.

2. I love HSB. A little non-student pub near my uni used to sell it and we'd go and have 4 pints each (4 of us, 4 rounds, £2.50 for a pint of quality, strong ale - happy days) with the pub quiz.

3. All the best with your move back home mate!

I'll have a special dedication on Friday. You can check it out when you get home. Also, be sure to check out my new track, "I will Imbibe." It tells a very emotional story. It hasn't been released yet.

Have a good trip Doc. I'll be in touch.

"What do these statistics tell us besides the fact that there are too many pubs?" - Nothing!

Have a good trip back to your homeland Tim.

Thanks guys. I am now forced to hang out in my local coffee joint until the pub opens in 45 minutes due to professional cleaners undoing three and a half years of grime.

I enjoyed my pint of HSB yesterday but not as much as I used to like it. I was chatting to the head brewer earlier in the year and he said that they had just reformulated it so it is all malt (they used to add sugar and brewers caramel). It's a much smoother beer now, but doesn't have the 'nutty' choc malt edge that it used to. Still a nice beer, but moved away from nuttiness towards a raison like special B liek sweetness.
